Favorize ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose your personal information when you use the Favorize mobile application and its associated services (collectively, the "Service").
This policy is designed to comply with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable data protection laws. By accessing or using our Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data when you use Favorize:
2.1 Information You Provide Directly

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
Favorize does not collect:
- Precise or coarse location data
- Financial information (credit card numbers, bank accounts)
- Health or fitness data
- Browsing history outside of the Favorize app
- Sensitive personal data (racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, genetic or biometric data)
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Under the GDPR, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)): Processing necessary to provide the Favorize service.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): Analytics and diagnostics to improve the app, fraud prevention, and ensuring service security.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): Contact list access for friend-finding features, and push notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): Processing required to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
4. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and maintain the Service: Account authentication, wishlist management, sharing features, and social interactions.
- Personalization: ML-based product recommendations tailored to your interests and wishlist activity.
- Analytics: Understanding usage patterns to improve features and user experience (via Firebase Analytics).
- Diagnostics and performance: Crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics) and performance monitoring.
- Communications: Push notifications about wishlist activity, social interactions, and service updates.
- Affiliate services: When you tap product links, we may redirect through affiliate partners. Affiliate links include tracking parameters but do not transmit your personal data.
- Security: Protecting against unauthorized access, fraud, and abuse (via Firebase App Check).
5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
5.1 Firebase / Google Cloud Platform
Favorize uses Firebase (a Google Cloud Platform service) for core infrastructure. Data is stored and processed in the europe-west1 (Belgium) region. Firebase services include: Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Storage, Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, Cloud Messaging, and Cloud Functions.

5.2 Affiliate Partners
When you click on product links, you may be redirected to affiliate partner websites (such as Bol.com, Amazon). These links contain tracking parameters. We do not share your personal data with affiliate partners.
5.3 Other Disclosures
- With other users: When you make your profile or wishlists public, other users can see this content.
- Legal compliance: When required by law, court order, or governmental regulation.
- Protection of rights: To protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
6. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
- User content: Retained until you delete the content or your account.
- Analytics data: Retained in aggregated/anonymized form (up to 14 months).
- Crash and performance data: Retained for up to 90 days.
- Contact matching data: Processed transiently, not permanently stored.
7. Account Deletion
You can delete your account from within the app: Account > Settings > Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, wishlists, favorites, social connections, images, and notification tokens.
8. Your Rights (GDPR)
- Right of access (Article 15): Request a copy of your personal data.
- Right to rectification (Article 16): Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure (Article 17): Request deletion of your data.
- Right to restriction of processing (Article 18): Limit how we process your data.
- Right to data portability (Article 20): Receive your data in a structured format.
- Right to object (Article 21): Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw consent at any time.

9. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest, Firebase App Check, multi-factor authentication support, regular security reviews, and service account key rotation.
10. International Data Transfers
Data is primarily stored in the EU (Belgium, europe-west1). Google Cloud complies with GDPR requirements for international data transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
11. Children's Privacy
Favorize is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in certain EU member states). If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at privacy@favorize.app.
12. User Consent and Preferences
12.1 GDPR Consent Dialog
On first app launch, Favorize presents a consent dialog allowing you to enable or disable Analytics and Crashlytics, or decline all. Preferences can be changed at any time in settings.
12.2 Privacy Settings
Control your privacy through in-app settings: profile visibility, contact discoverability, and per-wishlist visibility.
13. Push Notifications
With your consent, we send push notifications about wishlist activity, social interactions, and updates. Manage via device settings or within the app.
14. Cookies and Tracking
The Favorize mobile app does not use cookies. Firebase Analytics uses device identifiers for usage data. You can opt out via your device settings.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
